Christ Lutheran Church is a congregation that embraces God’s unaltered and infallible Word, rejoices in the saving power of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit and equips one and all to share the Good News of the Risen Living Savior.
  • Mark Degner

    Senior Pastor

Pastor Mark is married to Linda. He was born and raised in Wisconsin. He received His Masters of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO. A lifelong follower of Jesus, Mark has served as pastor of churches in Colorado, Arizona and Nebraska. He loves to share Jesus with people in Word and action. One of his favorite Words from God is, Do not remember the former things,  or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." - Isaiah 43:18-19. Mark serves as a chaplain for the Blair Police Department and is a member of the Board of Directors of Joseph's Coat. He loves to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

  • Bob Ehmen

Bob has been a member of Christ Lutheran Church for two years.  He and Candy, the love of his life, have been married over 44 years.  They have two boys, Josh (Jennifer) Ehmen, and Jared (Lindsey) Ehmen, and 3 beautiful grandchildren and a fourth is on the way!  Bob served 21 years in the Air Force as a pilot during which time he and Candy have moved many times to multiple locations around the world.  After retiring from active duty, Bob continued his flying career with FedEx for the next 21 years.  Wherever they made their home, becoming active members in church has been part of Bob and Candy's calling.  Bob enjoys music and has always joined choirs and men's groups to offer praise through leading worship and Bible study.  He still picks up his guitar from time to time as well in leading worship services at Christ Lutheran.  They live across the river in Missouri Valley but have established their church home here and are very excited to be a part of God's mission in Blair.  He and Candy both have roots here as Dana Alumni, graduating in 1973.  Bob looks forward to this year as we move onward to our future ministry center on the former Dana Campus.

His most meaningful Bible verse comes from his confirmation years...And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. - Col 3:17

  • Tim Fischer

    Minister of Music

Sacred music has been a huge part of Tim's life over the past 40 years.  Since his study of music began in grade school his love of music progressed through receiving his Master's Degree in Voice from the University of Nebraska in 1979.  Since that time, Tim has taught vocal music in several high schools as well as served as the Director of Music in several churches in Gretna, Omaha, and Blair.  Tim also feels God's call to lead several Bible studies and currently leads Cleansing Stream Discipleship and the Ray Vander Laan series "That the World May Know."

One of Tim's many favorite Bible passages is Ephesians 3:14-21:

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.  He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ my dwell in your hearths through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.  Amen.

It gives Jody great joy to be able to serve God in return for the sacrifice that Jesus became for each of us. Jody's favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  May you feel presence of the Holy Spirit as you navigate through our website!
